If you happened to have been anywhere near Westlake Village on Sunday, June 1^st you probably were witness to the legions of runners who participated in the fifteenth annual Love Run. The 5k and 10k Love Run race benefits the Meals on Wheels program, providing nutritious meals to homebound seniors and the disabled. 

Gold sponsor for the event, California-American Water Company, played a significant role in race preparations and cultivating supporters for this event. Festivities following the races included a DJ, bounce house for children, and vendor booths. The race itself was on a USATF- certified out and back flat course that partially circled scenic Westlake Lake  and culminated at Brent’s Delicatessen, a sponsor of the event. The top three male and female finishers in all age groups received awards. 

The Love Run is known for its community friendly atmosphere and for its ability to provide funding for much needed vital services for seniors. Dale Shagrin, volunteer coordinator for the event stated, “I believe in doing something good for the senior community. This is the perfect philanthropic event- you are helping seniors while getting to participate in something that is athletic and family oriented.” For information on Love Run 2009 visit the Senior Concerns website.
