Welcome to Senior Concerns

Senior Chat Program

Senior Concerns Senior Chat program serves those individuals who are homebound, and either living alone, are alone for extended periods of time during the day, or caring for a person who is unable to provide adequate social interaction. It is the intent that a cheerful, regular phone call will give the participant added social contact, and help allay the isolation that often plagues homebound seniors. A secondary benefit is the ability of the Senior Chat volunteer to notify Senior Concerns staff if a client expresses a concern or need for services.

Senior Chat participants receive a minimum of twice a week telephone calls from a designated volunteer. These calls are Monday through Friday, usually between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on a schedule convenient to the volunteer and the Senior Chat client.

Senior Chat is sponsored by Senior Concerns. The Conejo Recreation and Park District’s RSVP volunteers and the Goebel Senior Center Commission are also sponsors of the program. The program service area includes Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and Westlake Village.
