The Stakes Are High

An Online Derby

Welcome to Senior Concerns’ first ever online horse racing derby benefiting Meals on Wheels

With the postponement of the Kentucky Derby, we thought we would have some fun, and at the same time support seniors, at a time when the “stakes are high.”

If you love the “Sport of Kings” and if you are looking for an entertaining way to use social media for good, now is your chance to join our unique event.

Put on your derby clothes, pick up your Mint Julep and get ready for a virtual derby for good.

The prizes include:

  • WIN – Mastro’s Steakhouse dinner for 4
  • PLACE – A set of 12 Stallion wine glasses and 2 bottles of Black Stallion Winery Cabernet Sauvignon
  • SHOW – Horse themed gift basket

How to Play

Want a horse in the race?

Your donation of $250 to Senior Concerns, (fully tax deductible), gives you the opportunity to join the field of competitors.  There is no limit on horses racing our race.  Create a unique name for your horse and share it with friends.  (Harry Trotter, Tater Trot, Maple Stirrup, and the list goes on….)

How to win

Publicize your horse to friends, family, work mates, service groups and neighbors via social media (email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Next Door, LinkedIn or word of mouth.) The Virtual Derby winner will be the horse with the most lengths achieved based upon a combination of donations and social media votes.

Each $10 donated to Senior Concerns on behalf of your horse, wins ONE length advancement on the track.

Every 50 votes for your horse wins ONE length advancement too. People can vote daily, one vote per person by going to the Senior Concerns Stakes Are High web page. Voting is free.

The Derby Winner will be the horse with the highest combination of donations and votes. Please note, votes can only account for 10 percent of a horses overall advancement on the track.
