As part of an ongoing commitment to provide senior life planning education, Senior Concerns will present a free seminar, “Can I Eat for Pleasure and Wellness: The Facts About Nutrition as You Age,” on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks.
 
This informative and interactive seminar will be presented by Lisa Weaver, M.S., R.D., Director of Nutrition Services at Senior Concerns, Kathleen Carson, D.D.S. and M. Natalie Dianati, D.D.S., both of Westlake Dental Arts. The goal of the workshop is to help participants discover diet guidelines and nutrition tips for healthy eating as we age, learn to choose fresh and colorful foods to feed the body, mind and soul, discover why oral health is so important for seniors and identify common problems with the oral health of seniors. Attendees will learn how to help loved ones identify what to look for and what to do about oral health issues, what the healthy weight range is for older adults, what foods help strengthen our teeth and bones, and dietary approaches to reduce cholesterol.
 
Lisa M. Weaver, M.S., R.D., is the Director of Nutrition Services at Senior Concerns. In this role, Lisa manages Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels Program, the Adult Day Nutrition Program and the Congregate Meal Program at the Goebel Adult Community Center. Lisa brings extensive experience in clinical, management, counseling, teaching and food production. Most recently, she served as a Public Heath Nutritionist for the Ventura County Health Care Agency.
 
After graduating with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Dr. Carson attended the UCLA School of Dentistry. While there, she was presented with the Excellence in Restorative Dentistry Award and the Academy of General Dentistry Award. She earned her DDS honors in 2001, graduating cum laude, and served a general practice residency with the Veterans Administration in Los Angeles.
 
Dr. M. Natalie Dianati earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Neuroscience from University of California, Los Angeles and graduated with Departmental Honors. Dr. Dianati continued her education and received her Doctor of Dental
Surgery degree at UCLA School of Dentistry.
