Q: In the past I have participated in Senior Concerns’ Love Run. It seems it is about that time of year. Is it on the schedule for June?
A: Yes, it is. The 22nd annual Love Run is scheduled for June 7. Registration and start of activities will take place at 3011 Townsgate Road (between Westlake Boulevard and Lakeview Canyon) in Westlake Village.
This event provides something for every member of the family. Race day registration and packet pickup is at 6 a.m. with runs scheduled to start at 7:15 for 10K, 7:30 for 5K and 8:45 for the 1-mile run/walk.
The Love Run 5K will be an out-and-back run, and the 10K will be a loop run around the lake in Westlake Village. Awards will be given for the top three male and top three female finishers in each age group and to all kids under 11 in the 1-mile run/walk.
Preregistration for 5K and 10K runs is $38 until May 14 and then $43. For the 1-mile walk/run the fee is $33. The Love Run is a major fundraiser for Senior Concerns’ Meals-on-Wheels program. All proceeds go directly toward providing nutritious meals to the area’s home-bound frail elderly who cannot shop or prepare meals for themselves.

A: In celebration of the 22nd annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day the Goebel Adult Community Center is sponsoring a senior/teen prom.
From 5-8 p.m. May 27 seniors and teens can get together to socialize, dance and enjoy dinner. Seniors 55 and older are invited to bring a teen as their partner. Other teens are invited to volunteer to be a dance partner for a senior. To volunteer to be a teen dance partner call 381-2744.
