Senior Concerns, as part of its commitment to provide support and education for seniors and family caregivers, will present a three-part virtual seminar titled “Shaping Your Last Chapter.” The seminar will be held via Zoom from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, Tuesday, January 25, and Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

Part 1, which will be held on Tuesday, January 11, is titled “You Are Wiser Than You think.” This session will focus on how to recognize and embrace the spiritual gifts of aging, understanding how aging positively influences our view of the world, and examining your life’s purpose and meaning.

Part 2, which will be held on Tuesday, January 25, is titled “Creating Your Legacy.” During this session, you will gain an understanding and appreciation of their life’s story, determine how your beliefs and values will live on, and learn the best way to communicate your legacy to your loved ones.

Part 3 is scheduled for Tuesday, February 8 and is titled ‘How to Make Sure Your Wishes are Followed at End of Life.” During this session, you will explore the challenges of potential end-of-life medical interventions, understand how to advocate for yourself and others, and learn how to document your wishes.

This three-part seminar series will be facilitated by Teri Helton, MSN, RN, FCN, Chair of the Ventura County Coalition for Compassionate Care; and the Rev. Kate Lewis, BCC, Spiritual Care Manager at St. John’s Hospitals.
