Q: A few months ago, you wrote about a brain fitness program. Can you provide information about where it might be offered next?

A: The Group Brain Fitness program is a four-week program with weekly 90-minute sessions. Each session will involve short-term memory, long-term memory, language, calculation, visual-spatial skills and critical thinking. Each session will include brain games and exercises.

This program will be at four locations in July:

The Agoura Hills Recreation Center; 1 to 2:30 p.m. starting July 11. For more information call 818-597-7631.

Calabasas Community Services; 10 to 11:30 a.m. starting July 12. For more information call 818-880-6461.

Simi Valley Senior Center; from 1:30 to 3 p.m. starting July 19. For more information, call the center at 583-6363 or Tee, the instructor, at 905-9918.

Goebel Senior Adult Center in Thousand Oaks; from 3:30 to 5 p.m. starting July 24. For more information call 381-2744.

Q: My neighbor attended a seminar on how to study for the DMV written test. Now I will have to take the written test to renew my driver’s license. Do you know when that seminar will be offered again?

A: The seminar, “Will You Pass Your Next Driving Test?” is offered six times a year at different locations in east Ventura County.

The presentation offers suggestions on how to study for the written test and gives hints on what to do during a road test. Attendees get a handout that helps them study for the test.

The next seminar will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. July 11 at the Westlake Village Civic Center, 31200 E. Oak Crest Drive in Westlake Village.

The remaining seminars for 2012 will be on Sept. 24 at the Simi Valley Senior Center and Nov. 5 at the Goebel Senior Adult Center in Thousand Oaks.

Details on the July seminar and future dates can be obtained by calling 495-6250.

Many seniors are surprised to receive a notice that a test is required. According to the DMV, drivers cannot renew their licenses by mail and must take written and vision tests if their licenses expires after they turn 70.
