Senior Concerns, as part of its commitment to provide support and education for seniors and family caregivers, will present a virtual seminar titled “Medicare Basics.” The seminar will be held via Zoom from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

This informative seminar will provide detailed information on how to enroll in Medicare, how the Medicare Program works, what are the components of Medicare, maintaining your Medicare coverage, and details about Medicare’s Open Enrollment period.

The seminar will be presented by George Lopez, a HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) Counselor with the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging. George has been a Certified Volunteer Counselor with HICAP for 10 years. The purpose of HICAP is to provide free unbiased counseling and community education on Medicare A, B, C, & D. HICAP completes comparisons on all products of C & D, retiree/employer Group vs. Medicare. HICAP resolves billing issues, and helps apply for appeals.

George is also a Senior Medicare Patrol counselor, a Long-term Care counselor, and a General Community Educator
