Senior Concerns will provide Memories in the Making workshops on the 2 nd and 4 th Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. beginning Friday, March 13, 2015 at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road in Thousand Oaks.

Memories in the Making is one of the Alzheimer’s Association, California Southland Chapter’s signature programs. It allows people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias to explore their memories and emotions through the process of creating art. More than a traditional arts and crafts class or hobby activity, Memories in the Making has proven therapeutic benefits, can aid in communication, and can provide cognitive stimulation. Memories in the Making is made possible thanks to the generosity of Susan Disney Lord, Abigail Disney, Tim Disney, and Roy P. Disney in honor of their mother, Patricia Disney.

Senior Concerns is a contracted, registered Alzheimer’s Association, California Southland Chapter Memories in the Making site.

“We are excited to be bringing this important program to the community,” says Rosemary Flores-Gordon, Senior Concerns’ Director of Programs. “People with dementia can benefit through the creation of art. Families benefit because communication is made possible, allowing them to develop a unique appreciation of their loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s.”

The workshop is open to anyone with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. There is no charge for the program. Seating is limited. To learn more and reserve a spot for your loved one, please call (805) 497-0189.
