Senior Concerns will present a free program titled “Having The Talk With Aging Loved Ones” on Tuesday, November 5 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. as part of their Caregiver University series. This informative seminar will be presented by Esther C. Bleuel, Tough Talk Couch, and Andrea Gallagher, President of Senior Concerns. The program will be held at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks. Reservations may be made by calling (805) 497-0189. As individuals get older their ability to adapt to situations increases, but sometimes the decisions our loved ones make may place their health or safety at risk. For example, driving after a stroke, managing finances after a dementia diagnosis or walking without a walker after a fall, can all be dangerous. According to Senior Concerns President Andrea Gallagher, “Talking to your loved one about these situations can make you uneasy and make them uncomfortable. Sometimes these talks don’t get the results we want because everyone involved is anxious and brings their own way of looking at things. Our loved one may feel embarrassed, misunderstood, defensive and most importantly not in control of the situation.
