(Thousand Oaks, CA) Senior Concerns is calling on community members to volunteer for the 31st Annual Love Run, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, which will take place on Sunday, June 1, in Westlake Village.
One of the largest 5K/10K events in the Conejo Valley, the Love Run, draws more than 2,000 participants and 500 spectators annually. Volunteers are essential to making the event a success, helping raise funds to provide nutritious meals to homebound seniors through Senior Concerns’ Meals On Wheels program.
“Volunteers are the heart and driving force behind the Love Run,” says Andrea Gallagher, president of Senior Concerns. “Event volunteers do more than just help on race day- they ensure thousands of meals reach homebound seniors throughout the year. That impact is priceless.”
Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals, families, and groups from schools, clubs, businesses, service organizations, and places of worship. Race-day volunteer roles include:
- Check-in and registration
- Course monitoring and runner support
- Water stations
- Finish Line Festival assistance
- And more
All volunteers will receive a commemorative volunteer T-shirt, a complimentary pancake breakfast, and front-row access to the day’s festivities.
This year’s event includes four races: the Pennymac 10K, Mazda & VW Thousand Oaks 5K, California American Water 1-Mile Fun Run, and Carol’s Tribe Virtual Run. The Finish Line Festival will feature a Health and Wellness Expo, pancake breakfast provided by the Thousand Oaks Kiwanis, a Mimosa Garden hosted by The Ridge at Westlake Village, and a “Plenty of Plates” activity sponsored by Los Robles Health System.
All proceeds from the Love Run support the Meals On Wheels program, which delivers more than 5,500 meals each month to seniors in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, and Oak Park.
