QUESTION:  Each year about this time Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers a single lecture series.  Do you know if that will be offered again this year?

  Answer:  Yes it will.  The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute known as OLLI will offer the Summer 2019 Taste of OLLI: Single Lecture Series starting Tuesday June 11 and it will run through Thursday July 25.

  Classes will be held at five locations:  California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks at the Oaks Mall, California State University Channel Islands in Broome Library, Ventura Adult & Continuing Education (VACE),  Studio Channel Islands Art Center and Martin V. Smith Center at CSUCI.

   Lectures on 29 subjects are being offered covering a variety of topics.  There seems to be something for everyone from the Thomas Fire Report Card and Fake News! Read All About It to A Ballerina’s Life and China’s Eldercare

  QUESTION:  I look forward to Thousand Oak’s Senior of the Year Award – do you have information on this year’s event?

  ANSWER:  Yes I do.  The 2019 Thousand Oaks Senior of the Year dinner and Award Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday June 13 at 5:30 pm at the Goebel Adult Community Center, 1385 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.

  The City of Thousand Oaks Council on Aging will honor six nominees for their exemplary volunteer services to their community.

  Those to be honored are Cynthia Bell, Gail Field, Chuck Huffer,  Patricia Jones, Ricki Mitkelsen and Stasis Simrall.

  Dinner will be by Cisco’s Mexican Restaurant and fun, good food, entertainment and prizes will make this a night to remember.  Tickets are $6.00 and available at the Goebel Center.  All proceeds benefit the Conejo Senior Volunteer Program (CSVP).  For more information visit www.toaks.org/seniors or call Senior Services Staff at (805) 381-7362.

  WEDNESDAY – May 29 – 11:00 am to 1:00 pm – “National Senior Health & Fitness Day” – at CLU Community Pool, 100 Overton Court in Thousand Oaks.  This event is free but you must pre-register.  Call Goebel at (805) 381-2744 or sign up at Goebel’s front desk.

  WEDNESDAY – June 5 – 1:00 –Thousand Oaks Council on Aging Meeting – at Civic Arts Plaza Board Room, 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.  Nancy Healy will share her memorable moments and introduce this year’s Senior Volunteer of the Year Nominees.

  FRIDAY – June 14 – 5:00 pm – Summer BBQ – at Goebel Center, 1385 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.  Kick off the summer right – this evening includes a great dinner, live entertainment, dancing and fun, fun, fun.  Tickets are $10 and currently on sale at Goebel’s front desk.
