Senior Concerns has expanded its caregiver educational series to include a variety of programs on the concerns faced by family/ unpaid caregivers. All programs are offered free of charge and will run from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks. Respite will be available for caregivers who must bring their loved ones with them. Caring for the Caregiver with Andrea Gallagher of Senior Concerns and Patti Smith of Evolution on Thurs., Sept. 12. Insightful and sensible self-care strategies, all emphasizing caring for oneself. Grandparents Raising Grandkids with Doug Miller of Kids and Families Together on Tues., Sept. 17. Miller will present how grandparents can provide the best possible care for their grandchildren while still preserving their own health and well-being. Caring for a Loved One with Traumatic Brain Injury with Denise Buttrey of Brain Injury Center of Ventura County on Tues., Sept. 24. Traumatic brain injury is a blow or jolt to the head or a penetrating head injury that disrupts the function of the brain. For those who are caring for a partner, spouse, child, relative or close friend with TBI, Buttrey shows how to recognize stress and seek support services. More …
