Senior Concerns, as part of its commitment to provide support for seniors, will present a community seminar titled “Senior Expert Panel,” on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Senior Concerns, 401 Hodencamp Road, Thousand Oaks.

This informational seminar is being presented by Brian Collins, a licensed real estate professional and landlord; Lynnette Shifman, a Realtor in the Conejo Valley since 1984; Jack Dvir, an independent financial advisor at Financial Pointe; and Debbie Lee, Reverse Mortgage Advisor for Retirement Funding Solutions.

Brian Collins will discuss the pros and cons of renting vs. selling your home, provide an overview of the current rental market, discuss how to prepare your home for rental, how to work with a professional property manager, and what to do when a lease ends. Brian brings a deep regional knowledge and community passion to his work. Prior to his Real Estate career, he was a 20-year veteran educator in Ventura County.

Lynnette Shifman, a local Realtor in the Conejo Valley, will discuss how to coordinate a sale and purchase using Prop 60 and Prop 90, what time of home fits your budget and new lifestyle, and help you understand if you might own a home that no longer suits your needs.  She has been an educator and a realtor in the Conejo for over 40 years.

Jack Dvir, an independent financial advisor with Financial Pointe, will review financial considerations for seniors, including taking a financial inventory, deciding where to live, tax considerations, and renting vs. selling. Jack Dvir, AAMS® is an Accredited Asset Management Specialist, and is certified in the California Partnership for Long Term Care. He currently leads the Conejo Valley Business Independent Networking Group.

Debbie Lee, Reverse Mortgage Advisor for Retirement Funding Solutions, will discuss reverse mortgage myths vs. facts, how reverse mortgages work, and who can benefit from a reverse mortgage. Debbie has been in the mortgage industry for over 30 years; the last 18 years focused on reserve mortgages for seniors.
