QUESTION:  Each year about this time, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers a single lecture series. Do you know if that will be offered again this year?

ANSWER: Yes it will. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, known as OLLI, will offer the Summer 2017 Taste of OLLI Single Lecture Series. It will start on June 6 and run through July 27. Classes will be held at two locations: Ventura Adult and Continuing Education (VACE) and CSU Channel Islands Broome Library and Aliso Hall.

Lectures on 23 subjects are being offered covering a variety of topics. There seems to be something for everyone, from “Cybersecurity: Staying Safe on the Internet” to “The Arts and Alzheimer’s.”

Enrollment is currently in progress and can be completed by calling 437-2748.

QUESTION: I look forward to the Thousand Oaks Senior of the Year Award. Do you have information on this year’s event?

ANSWER: Yes, I do. The 2017 Thousand Oaks Senior of the Year Dinner and Award Ceremony is scheduled for June 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Goebel Adult Community Center, 1385 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.

The City of Thousand Oaks Council on Aging will honor eight nominees for their exemplary volunteer services to their community.

Those to be honored are Mary Ann Best, Sada (Annie) Gallagher, Patricia L. Grant, Irv Kerner, Larane B. Nesbitt and David E. Nesbitt, Michael Seelig and Mary Ann “Skip” Shaver.

Dinner will be by Cisco’s Mexican Restaurant. Fun, food, entertainment and prizes will make this a night to remember. Tickets are $6 and are available at the Goebel Center.

QUESTION: Conejo Senior Volunteer Program (CSVP) usually has a theater event about this time of year. Do you know if it is scheduled this year?

ANSWER: The 2017 Theatre Fest will take place on June 10 at the Conejo Players Theatre, located at 351 S. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

This year’s offering is Andrew Bergman’s “Social Security,” which was a Broadway success. This comedy will get you laughing and keep you laughing. It is a “must see.” For a review by Rita Moran, see Friday’s Time Out section in the Ventura County Star.

The event starts at 1 p.m. with a wine, cheese and chocolate reception back stage. Curtain call is at 2 p.m., and following the final curtain call raffle drawings will be held.
