Q: Every fall, Senior Concerns advertises a seminar series. Will that series be offered again this year?
A: Yes. The theme is “Caregiver U — Designing Your Care Plan.”
The series will start Oct. 9 with “Customizing Caregiver Needs,” a presentation by Eileen Gold of Paraclete Eldercare Service. Gold will discuss fitting a caregiving plan to a person’s specific needs.
The seminars will be from 4:30-6 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Senior Concerns Day Center, 401 Hodencamp Road in Thousand Oaks. Reservations can be made by calling 497-0189. Respite care is available for special-needs seniors.
Q: I am just turning 65 and have questions about senior health coverage. Where can I get information about options?
A: The Area Agency on Aging of Ventura County and the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program will offer the ” Medicare Informational Event 2013″ on Oct. 8.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott, 600 E. Esplanade Drive in Oxnard. Admission is free, and no reservations are required.
Visitors can talk to those who provide health care coverage.
The Ventura County Health Care Agency’s Public Health Department will provide free flu shots.
Q: You have been giving locations for Medicare 2013 seminars, but I haven’t seen any for the east county. Will there be any?
